Who is eligible to apply?

Any experienced researcher with a doctoral degree and working at a non-Spanish research organization for at least 24 months at the moment of the call publication is eligible to apply for a fellowship from the CIBERDEM Incoming Mobility Programme (CIMP) to take trans-national placements at the research centers members of the CIBERDEM consortium.

 

How can you apply?

Candidates to the CIMP fellowships must fill the following application form with:

   - their personal data
   - a letter of motivation
   - a Personal Research Proposal of the project that they plan to develop (max. 3 pages
   - their 2 preferred CIBERDEM host institutions from the table below
   - an updated Curriculum Vitae
   - a Reference Letter of a senior member of their current institution

Complete applications will be evaluated by the Selection Committee. All applicants will receive notification of the outcome of their evaluations individually by email. Final results will be published herein and the selected candidates will be interviewed before the final decision is made. This will take place within two months after the deadline for each call.

 

How may you prepare your Personal Research Proposal?

Fellow applicants may propose any research project dealing with Diabetes and fitting the major working areas covered by CIBERDEM.

The current call of CIMP fellowships is open to all the consortium research groups with a vacancy on their research labs. In the next table the applicants can find, as an orientation, the descriptions of several projects to be developed in the different research groups. The applicants may use these as a guide to prepare their Personal Research Proposal.

Which are the CIMP Fellowship conditions?

- Duration of two years
- gross year salary of 31.367,02 €
- mobility allowance (6000 to 9600 €/year)
- travel allowance (500 to 1500 €/year)
- and research costs up to 7200€

Fellow CIMP researchers will be employed by CIBERDEM under a contract basis, with 40 hours of work per week (excluding lunch time), 22 days of annual leave (plus statutory days), healthcare coverage provided by the Spanish Social Security system and a Private Accident Insurance.

Please note that all the candidates must either be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience at the corresponding deadline for submission of proposals.

 

How will candidates be evaluated?

Eligible applications will be forwarded to the Selection Committee, which will be integrated by the Scientific Director of CIBERDEM, several members of the International Scientific Committee of CIBERDEM and several other experts external to CIBERDEM, experienced in the diabetes field. Each application will be reviewed by two members of this committee, and the final score will be obtained by consensus. If any evaluator has a potential conflict of interests with an applicant, another member of the Selection Committee will take care of the corresponding evaluation.

The evaluators will score the applications according to the following criteria:

   - Scientific & Technological Quality (25p)
   - Potencial impact and transferability (5p)
   - Value for CIBERDEM (5p)
   - CV of the applicant (15p)
   - track record of the applicant and additional skills (5p)
   - Adequacy of the candidate and the project (5p)

Aplicants with a score under 50 will not pass to the interviewing phase.

The best-scored applicants will be invited to a 30-40 min. interview with two members of the Seleccion Committee, differents to those who evaluated the applicant. The evaluators will score the interview according to the following criteria:

   - Scientific excellence (15p)
   - scope and clarity of the presentation of the Personal Research Proposal (10p)
   - potential to become a Top European Researcher (10p)
   - and additional skills (5p)

Only applicants with an added score over 80 will be considered.

Successful applicants will be chosen by the Selection Committee based on the final score obtained (90%) and the strategic needs of the CIBERDEM consortium (10%). The final ranked list will be published afterwards, and applicants will be contacted with detailed information regarding their selection process.
